La Salle Academy gets a historic upgrade from Winco
La Salle Academy, founded 144 years ago, began as an elementary school in Providence, Rhode Island. Today, this historic treasure is now a co-ed private academy.
That's where we come into the picture. In 1954, we replaced the original 1925 wooden hung windows with a more efficient aluminum projected window system. Fifty years later, it was déjà vu when Winco was again recruited to replace the windows.
The Challenge: Returning to the original hung window design while integrating modern energy benefits and functionality. The large 240" x 100" windows have five units per classroom, each with a large 48" x 50" operable vent.
The Solution: Working with True Enterprises, Inc., Winco's New England representative, Winco replaced the 1954 aluminum windows with Winco's 1450S Series fixed-over-projected hung replica windows to reflect the original 1925 design. The upper fixed glass is in a different plane than the bottom projected vent. Thanks to a custom stainless steel 4-bar arm for support, the windows are easy to operate.
