Historic Retrofit for Hurricane Impact Puts Windows to Task
Few architectural products can accomplish as many things as windows. A recent feature in US Glass Magazine on a Winco project, a retrofit of a historic educational campus, details how one well-executed glazing system solved multiple challenges. The 1930s era buildings in Charleston, South Carolina, while beautiful, were in dire need of a modern update. Situated in a coastal climate, where temperatures can soar year-round, hurricane and thermal concerns topped the list. But the kicker was ensuring that the campus historic façades maintained their period look. Winco, experts in historic replication, was able to deliver on all fronts. This fall, students will enjoy more than just gorgeous natural light, they'll be protected from weather, outside noise, and heat.
