This historically accurate blast-resistant project in Ft. Riley, KS was for an Administration Building originally built in 1878 and installed into a less than ideal limestone substrate. Winco worked with the Glazing Contractor to develop a custom reinforcement solution that allowed the priceless Decorative Fluted Cast Iron Mullion to remain with the oversized, archtop (48” x 107”) and validated to meet the blast load with live explosive testing at the University of Missouri- Rolla.
Winco was able to use innovative framing methods to match the original window sightlines without the added cost of lead time typically associated with new dies to meet the aggressive schedule.
