The Future of Student Housing is HERE
HERE, new student apartments at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, is bringing affordable luxury to the students. This modern 16-story mixed-use student residence features ground floor retail and restaurants; and a dizzying array of upscale amenities, including roof top terraces, fitness centers and conference rooms.
With all the extras, the project team needed to make this project affordable for college student budgets. Winco made a bold move, which greatly reduced costs. By fabricating the window walls in St. Louis and trucking them 180 miles to Champaign, the team assured quality control, waterproofing and cut labor costs on the job site. The sleek exterior of the building is actually prefabricated metal panels inset with Winco’s 1450 series window with a clear anodized finish. The project used over 1,600 windows of which over half are vents. Educational buildings and multi-family housing are two of Winco’s specialties. With this particular project, Winco was able to do both together.
