New window framing materials such as vinyl and fiberglass are entering the marketplace. However, these new materials have yet to stand the test of time. Aluminum windows offer a comparable U-value to fiberglass. More importantly, aluminum windows, which have been manufactured since the 1930s, offer those values for the long haul and under real-world conditions.
