Michael Rupe “credits” a world epidemic with his latest career move. Michael was in staffing for 10 years, doing it onsite for the last eight before COVID put the world on hold. When he applied at Winco, he was still a bit under the weather himself, so his first impression of Winco as a company was how his now current boss, Pat Pizzimenti, was so compassionate and caring of his health during the interview—even though he was not yet an employee! It’s that overall feeling of being part of a family and being surrounded by people who truly care about one another that sets Winco apart from other companies.
In Michael’s previous experience with staffing and recruiting for other companies, he witnessed internal issues where not everyone could come to an agreement on important HR matters. It starts at the top, the family cares, they take the time to get to know you as the person, not the position. This is what differentiates Winco—caring as much about the welfare of the employees as the success of the company.
Michael homed in on the fact that no two window projects are the same, and it’s the individuals at the company that make each window for customers. It’s not cookie cutter. It’s not pulling stock from a shelf. Each window is made by people proud to create something that meets the specific needs of an order.
Micheal is a graduate of University of Missouri-St. Louis with a Bachelors in Psychology and he is a member of The Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) and AAIM. Michael is married with two children, seven birds, and four cats. In his free time, Michael enjoys playing several instruments, painting, and reading. He is also an avid fan of documentaries.
