Louisiana Pump Station’s New Windows Designed for Hurricane-Resistance
Protecting infrastructure is a priority in a coastal city like Tampa, Florida, where strong winds and heavy rains sweep east over the city. The requirements of pump stations are many, including managing surface water due to heavy rains and flooding.
In April of 2020, Winco manufactured and delivered 21 of our 1150S Series windows fitted with hurricane laminated E-missile glass to the Louisiana Pump Station in Tampa as part of a major building rehab that included replacement of pumps, new generators, flooring, roofing, windows, electrical and HVAC updates, and more.
The potential threat of high-velocity winds due to hurricanes, tornados, or severe storms necessitated that the Louisiana Pump Station replace its older windows with ones featuring solid framing and hurricane-resistant glazing. Winco’s 1150S series fit the bill nicely.
With multiple windows in varying sizes on all sides, employees can keep a watchful eye on the sky when heavy rains are forecast. After back-to-back storms with Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton in 2024, Winco’s specially reinforced 1150S windows passed the test!
