Operable Windows Make Care Facility Feel Like Home
Richmond State Living Center first opened in Richmond, Texas, in 1968 to provide housing, habilitative care, and support services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. While serving people of all ages, the care facility primarily accommodates adults from a 15-county area. Currently, 320 residents live onsite in seven of the eleven buildings, which received a fresh update from Winco’s 3410 sliding window series in a clear anodized finish. These large windows were used in the rooms to allow natural light and healing views of the outdoors to increase patient well-being.
Richmond State Living Center is a full-service facility providing intensive physical-therapy programs daily. Located on 242 acres, the center offers one of the most comprehensive hippotherapy (physical, speech, and occupational therapy using horses) programs in the Southwest with the opening of the Russell Shearn Moody Riding Arena, the Reva Williams Petting Zoo, and the Jesse H. Jones Wing of the Rehabilitation and Therapeutic Center in 1992.
