Boston's iconic JFK Federal Building
When Boston's iconic JFK Federal Building needed updated windows, the Winco Team was tasked with an unusual challenge. The installation work needed to be done at night and from the exterior of the occupied high-security government building.
Built-in 1963, the JFK Federal Building is a twin 26-story high-rise tower and a four-story low-rise building joined together with a glass atrium. Its modernist style includes traditional window panes and bent corner windows. Its on-axis arrangement creates more angles, more surface area and more room for windows - 5,000 to be specific.
After more than 50 years, the time had come to update the JFK Federal Building with new, technologically improved windows that would resolve issues of air infiltration, sound infiltration and heat loss and most importantly, security.
Working with True Enterprises, Inc., our Northeast sales representatives, we designed, tested and supplied the project with a pre-glazed window system that could be installed on site & even under the cover of night. The custom high performance pre-glazed 1150 fixed and bent corner system integrates historic design with security technology. Building occupants enjoy natural light without the visual reminders of security screens, shutters and barriers.
