Upgrades at Hoech Middle School Focus on Energy Efficiency
Hoech Middle School in St. Ann, Missouri, underwent a major overhaul as part of an energy efficiency upgrade within the school district. Among the improvements were HVAC upgrades, safety and security initiatives, enhancements to lighting, and replacement of outdated windows using Winco’s 1150 series project out (vent) windows.
Most of the installed windows are oversized and divided into nine grids; however, some are smaller with six grids. An advantage of the 1150 series is that they are operable and customizable. The lower portions of all windows can be opened out to allow fresh air to flow into classrooms. On the nine grid windows, the upper third of the windows are set with insulated architectural panels to match the 113 Dark Bronze Anodized Finish of the trim and frames. These insulated architectural panels and the Greylite II glass with Solar Ban 60 low E, argon fill, and warm edge spacers help the school conserve energy by reducing glare and limiting solar heat gain.
