The Villages K-8 Charter Schools aim to provide a safe and inviting educational environment for students
Communities often look to unique conceptual designs to build safe schools while creating an engaging and welcoming environment. Such was the case with The Villages K-8 Charter Schools in The Villages Middleton community in the heart of Florida. The school campus was built to serve the educational needs of elementary and middle school children in three adjoining counties within The Villages®, the largest, single-site residential real estate development in the United States at 35,000+ acres.
For safety and security, a single point of entry into a lobby leads to modular classroom buildings showcasing window systems from Winco. Our 4410 single-hung window series and several 3410 sliding windows were used in the interior lobby. Their tried-and-true proven design offers ideal daylighting, ventilation, and ease of maintenance any school requires.
The Villages K-8 Charter Schools include one building designated for elementary students and the other for middle school students. Both feature modular furniture and flexible design space to create areas for individual and collaborative learning. Across from the entrance lobby is a shared gymnasium and a large, open courtyard secured on the interior side of all buildings.
Classroom buildings feature plenty of window openings, from vertical light wells that allow daylight to fill common areas to the hundreds of Winco 4410 windows used in the classrooms. Winco used Vitro’s Solarban 70 low-e coating for solar control. Thanks to its balanced combination of visible light transmittance (VLT), solar control, and clarity, the coating strikes the right balance between form and function.
